Blueberry Kush medical marijuana review

Blueberry… sometimes it feels like it is everywhere.  Popping up as genetics in some of my favorite strains.  Ever since its Cup win in 2000, Blueberry has been worming its way through the medical marijuana world, depositing its superior genes in dispensaries across California.  Blueberry Kush doesn’t just bring one widely popular strain, though.  It brings two, buddying up OG Kush with DJ Short’s beloved Blueberry, a pairing also seen listed as Kushberry.

My quad sample, picked up from a private grower, was almost entirely one perfectly trimmed bud.  Much discussion has been floated about the benefits of machine trimmed buds, and it is hard to argue against with results this fine.  With no extraneous leaf material, the dense structure of the nuggets and the smattering of brown hairs and fine white crystals made this strain aesthetically pleasing.  The long bud was bright green and may have been been protected from the lights by its taller friends, preserving its color.

The buds broke down fluffy and soft.  And talk about sticky.  I had a hard time rolling Blueberry Kush into a blunt or joint because it clung to my fingers and the outside of the blunt itself.  Even after given a chance to dry out after a few days in a baggie, the nuggets were airy but gummy and no easier to handle.  I am hardly listing this as a negative, but I do encourage you to use a grinder.  Along with the stickiness, the smell seems to adhere to fingers as well.  OG Kush brings a sweet pine scent, while Blueberry includes its typical pungent dark berry aroma.  When mixed, the OG Kush mellows and softens the berry flavor of the smoke and makes for sweeter and smoother medicating experience.

Blueberry Kush is an indica dominant hybrid, and even with the presence of some sativa traits, it is clearly best used as a sundown strain.  The high is immediately cerebral and, at higher doses, becomes spacy and euphoric.  I often found myself floating off into a dreamy state, reminiscent of the moments just before or after sleep.  When used later in the day, it makes for a pleasant and seamless transition from your hectic day to a relaxed night’s sleep.  As with other indica dominants, there is also effective pain relief and appetite stimulation.  My achy old knee injury has been feeling the colder weather blowing through, and Blueberry Kush was an effective mask for the joint discomfort I felt.  I experimented with dosing through the day, and at lower levels, this strain is manageable as a daytime high, matching the introspection with an electric body buzz.  However, it won’t take much, so watch out for the daydreaming.  When used in higher amounts to medicate at bedtime, Blueberry Kush proves its worth as a repose from insomnia and stress, banishing the nagging reminders racing in our mind that keep us awake nights.

Blue Dream from OCPC medical marijuana review

My desert island, all-time favorite, one and only stain is, hands down and without hesitation, Blue Dream.  If I could only smoke one strain for the rest of my life, it would be the flawlessness that is Blue Dream.  I remember the exact moment and place when I smelled her sweet, delicate berry scent.  I know how I felt the moment I tasted her sweet berry pie juiciness for the first time.  I indulge in her when I have her.  I long for her when she’s gone.  The very thought of her… well, you get the picture.

Blue Dream is a wildly popular strain, even having its own Wikipedia page.  A combination of Blueberry and Haze, it was designed to be the perfect blend of indica and sativa highs.  However, it’s not just the highs that are perfectly melded together in Blue Dream.  An 80/20 hybrid, Blueberry is the minority in this hybrid, but the dark berry flavor is very specific and can be picked out right away.  It’s not sharp or sour, partly due to the other half of this dynamic duo, the sativa Haze.  Haze is a honey sweet strain that is present in some of the marijuana world’s favorite strains.  In Blue Dream, these two work together to create a blueberry scone taste that is a pleasure with which to medicate.  The buds themselves are soft pyramids, light and fluffy.  Matching the pastel greenery are pale orange hairs.  The color is faint, like it’s been run through an Instagram filter, and seems faded by the sun.  Blue Dream is an aesthetically unique strain, immediately recognizable.

As mentioned, Blue Dream was always intended to be a perfection of indica/sativa fusion.  And frankly, who am I to disagree.  The psychoactive effects are uplifting.  There is immediate mood elevation, and I had an overall feeling of euphoria.  There is also a warming of the nerves and a loosening of the joints.  Blue Dream couldn’t be more mellow a high, a real butterfly hugs high.  It does have the ability to get on top of you, and my brother-in-law remarked that it was too stoney for him.  In the past, medicating with Blue Dream has left me unable to concentrate and hold conversations, starting stories and then forgetting what I was saying.  As always, it is important to know your tolerance to keep from overdoing it.

I would recommend Blue Dream as an anti-depressive, and the Haze is a delightfully comforting sativa.  On the dreariest of days, it can pick you up carry you along with a twinkle in your eye.  However, it would be unfair not to acknowledge the pain relieving abilities of this strain as well.  Stress and tension.  Chronic pain and soreness.  A jar of Blue Dream in your medicine cabinet is like having a cure all, and I suggest keeping  some on hand at all times.

Bubbleberry from Aloha medical marijuana review

Aloha was the very first dispensary I visited after getting my recommendation.  I am, however, an FTP gift slut, so despite loading me with freebies and kindness, I hadn’t made it back around for a second visit.  When I first stopped by last month, I signed up for their text notification list.  Every Friday I receive a message outlining the weekend specials.  Like clockwork at 10:30 I check my phone to see if I’ll be taking a trip to Santa Ana.  This week the offering was Bubbleberry for $45/ eighth.

I grabbed an eighth of Bubbleberry last visit to Aloha, and it stood out among the other strains in my white bag.  After getting my text, I quickly decided to get going to avoid traffic on I5.  Unsurprisingly, Aloha was not busy at 11am on a Friday, and I had some time to chat with the budistas and sniff some jars.  Eventually I settled on a split eighth (4 gram 1/8s at Aloha) of Bubbleberry and Pumpkin Pie OG.  Because I split the eighth I lost the $5 off but was not upset because both strains looked good under the lights and I wanted to try the Pumpkin Pie.

Bubbleberry is a Sativa dominant hybrid of Bubblegum and Blueberry and brings flavors and traits from both parents.   At about 80% Sativa, the high is talkative and cheerful, and at times even intuitive and thoughful.  This strain is good for personality enhancement and social anxiety.  A close friend of mine often brags about how he got his job after showing up for the interview stoned on Bubbleberry.  The flavor is rich and fruity and representative of both the Blueberry and Bubblegum.  The taste stays noticable right up until your bowl is cashed and never comes across as burnt or woody.  I’ve also used this strain in a vaporizer, and the flavor is just as powerful and, dammit, tasty.  Of the flavored hybrids I’ve tried, Bubbleberry remains my favorite.  I don’t seem to be alone in this opinion.  I have heard Bubbleberry recommended and praised by a number of budistas, customers, and friends and have even passed this recommendation on to others.  Do not expect pain relief with this mostly Sativa hybrid.  My arthritis was persistently achy.  One final bit of warning: Bubbleberry has an incredibly potent smell.  There is no way to be covert when using this medication.  Bong, blunt, joint, bowl, or vaporizer-Bubbleberry is impossible to hide.  Although rich and enjoyable, remember that not everyone shares your love of fine marijuana smells.
